"God Will Help Me "
There was a very religious man named Jim, who lived near a river. One
day, the river rose over the banks and flooded the town, and Jim was
forced to climb onto his porch roof. While sitting there, a man in a
boat came along and told Jim to get in the boat with him.
Jim said, "No, that's okay. God will take care of me."
So, the man in the boat drove off.
The water rose higher, so Jim climbed onto his roof. At that time,
another boat came along, and the person in that one told Jim to get
in.
Jim replied, "No, that's okay. God will take care of me."
The person in the boat then left.
The water rose even more, and Jim climbed onto his chimney. A
helicopter came along and lowered a ladder for him. The woman in the
helicopter told Jim to climb up the ladder and get in.
Jim said, "That's okay."
The woman said, "Are you sure?"
Jim replied, "Yeah, I'm sure God will take care of me."
Finally, the water rose too high and Jim drowned. Jim got to heaven
and was face-to-face with God.
Jim said to God, "You told me that you would take care of me! What
happened?"
God replied, "Well, I sent you two boats and a helicopter. What else
did you want?"
Hahahaha, I love that one! Why? Because I myself have missed the boat quite a few times. You know what they say, if you cant laugh at yourself you'll have nothing to laugh at as you grow older. At any rate I started with this to say that a lot of times when we are waiting on God to do something for us, or just waiting for something to occur to better our current situations, we miss it because we are looking for the wrong thing. You see, we often get caught up in looking for "magic to happen". By magic I mean "poof it's fixed", or "poof I'm happy", or "poof I'm not alone" or my FAVORITE "poof I'm rich!" That my friend, is not reality. That is not how things work, at all. We have to get up and recognize that what is sent to us is an opportunity, or an idea, or motivation, it is then up to us to take that and turn it into what it is we are striving for. Proverbs 14:23 "All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty". Now does this sound like the words of one that is going to just "poof" success for you? Pay attention. Don't get caught turning things down because your idea of a blessing or opportunity is something that doesn't require effort, something that just happens, something "easy". Often, easy things are the things you do not want in your life. Proverbs 12:11, "Those who work their land will have abundant food, but those who chase fantasies have no sense". Are you missing the boats?

Go get what you want.... that's the best advice I have heard. I am at that point in my life too. I want this internship that will run this through this semester and I have interviewed with them and now just wainting on their reply. I don't want to be impatient and I don't want to be to pushy either but I want to know now hahah. This is great sis I love it.
ReplyDeleteI dont know how long ago you did the interview, but if they did not gove you time expectations for a reply, checking back in via email, or maybe calling depending on the rapport you have with the decision maker, shows you care and this is something that you want. That's not the same as being a nuisance
DeleteWell said!! This is something I needed today! I'm so PROUD of you!
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking the time out to read it. I usually write the things I myself need to hear. I ALWAYS "practice what I preach", and it helps. Keep reading and I hope it continues to touch you. Love ya!
